This was my first read by author J.M. La Rocca. I wasn't sure what to expect, but clearly it wasn't to be so completely shocked at the cliffhanger ending she left us with before releasing book #2. Of course I cannot disclose what that OMG moment was at the end but I can honestly say you will not be disspointed with the read up to that point.

Was there angst. YES
Was there a hot lead male: Hell Yeah
Was there a spunky bold mouthed best friend: Yup
Was there smokin hot love scenes. Oh yeah!
Was there a crazy mystery surrounding at least one character: oh yes there was!!

Can I tell you any more than that without telling you the whole plot and mystery? NOPE!

Scarlett is the lead character who is hand picked by the lead singer of a band to be a "babysitter" to ensure Kade doesn't fall off the bandwagon and put the insurance company in jeopordy while being represented during filming of the movie he's hired to be in. It's only a few weeks, however Kade has secrets, but so does Scarlett. Can Kade stay clean long enough to get through the filming? Can Scarlett let her mind speak louder than her heart? When suspicious actions start to arise can Scarlett keep her mouth shut and hope for the best or does she do the right thing and save her job?

J.M La Rocca leaves no rock unturned in this book, however the one rock you thought was already turned over....think again. There are things up her sleeves you never saw coming.

This is a pretty intriguing story. It is refreshing to read a book that doesn't begin with "insta-love". The relationship between Kade and Scarlett was a slow simmer the built into a relationship over a realistic amount of time. He is a hot, alpha rocker/actor with some domineering ways in the bedroom. Throw in a seemingly double life, a hot undercover FBI agent (who is also her step brother) and we have the makings of a gripping plot! I read this book thinking the second installment had already been released. I didn't realize it wasn't coming out until December. Ugh!!! My only gripe is that the cover art is cheesy. Couldn't they have come up with a better cover?! 5+++++ stars!!!
For a first book, the author did a good job. Scarlett and Jules are great friends who work in an insurance company for artists. Enter Kade, a rock star with drugs and alcohol issues, who wants Scarlett to manage his insurance for his participation in a film. They fall in lust at first sight then thru the novel move on to love. All the time, Kade is receiving mysterious phone calls that make him mad, swear a blue streak and eventually fall into drugs again. Scarlett stands by her man until the cliffhanger happens. This was an entertaining read. The part that is not very convincing is how Kade turns from a bad boy into this enamoured guy with decent feelings.
You will believe when you read the story of Kade and Scarlett. It was something between them from the minute that they met and neither knew who the other was but they had one moment electrifying so strong that Scarlett couldnt forget the moment and kade couldnt forget the beautiful woman that made him feel whole. However, sometimes good things are meant to exist for more than just a moment. YOU will love this book as you delve deeping into the story of these two characters although there were a couple of times when I hate that the author moved too fast with the story more so during the scene with frank and also again when Bryce showed up and kissed her how can you just by pass that so quickly. I am looking foward to reading book 2
This book has my two vices in books' plot lines Rock stars and Mafia, or mob bosses. So Kade, or Nick is both, all rolled in a sexual package. The only thing missing in him was violence. Well not that I see in this book. Scarlett is just an okay girl. She seems to be ogling any male she comes into contact with, that is so annoying. I expected that from Kade but not her. I know what is good for the goose is good for the gander etc etc, but girl, respect yourself. Don't let any Jack, Dick and Harry, think they can get in your pant.

Okay, so things ended the way it did, and I have to get my answers from the second book. Meanwhile this book rocks. It is good to the last drop. Anticipation oozes from every page for me. I don't think there is any cheating also. Just my gut feeling.
I was so not expecting that!

I went info Lifeless not knowing anything about it. Judging by the cover, it seemed like a thriller to me. I don't know why but the cover girl looks freaky. Freaky as in scary. Ha

Anyways, I went into the book clueless. I was pleasantly surprised with the opening scene, it was nicely done. There we meet Scarlett and her boyfriend Trey, who just so happens to be married with a baby on the way. Gah, what a tool! Fast forward five months--Scarlett has moved in with her best friend, Jules, to start a new life in Atlanta working as an entertainment insurance agent.

Here is where it gets really good! Scarlett and Jules go out to an opening of a club. While they are dancing, a sexy man starts dancing with Scarlett. She comes to find out that it's none other than Kade Evans, lead singer of the popular band Perfectly Damaged.

Can I hear a hallelujah?

My love for rock star romances is unhealthy. The first one I loved and still love is Kellan Kyle from Thoughtless. Mind you, this book has nothing in common with Thoughtless. I just love Kellan and the D-Bags.

I pretty much loved Kade from the moment he walked into the picture. Of course this is my unhealthy love for a rock star again, I stood no chance. He is extremely sexy, with an adorable grin that would make any lady weak in the knees.

Lifeless is full of romance, mystery, and a lot of sexual tension. A lot! By the end of the book my mouth was left hanging open! Be prepared for a book unlike any other. It's not your typical NA storyline.

Great plot with even better characters, Lifeless will leave you wanting more. Book 2 comes out sometime this year? Not sure! But if you haven't yet read this book, I highly recommend you go and get it.
